Don?t have plans for next weekend? Time to get tickets to the Boston Wine Expo. Held February 16-17 at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center, the event allows patrons to taste dishes from local celebrity chefs like Ming Tsai (Blue Ginger) and Barbara Lynch of No. 9 Park and Menton, while sampling a variety of wines. The expo includes two demonstration stages where you can check out some of the city?s best and brightest, whipping up their favorite recipes; and afterwards, feel free to sample their creations.
Other participating chefs this year are Chris Douglass of Ashmont Grill and Tavolo; Jose Duarte of Taranta; Dan Enos of Oceanaire Seafood Room; Richard Garcia of 606 Congress; Andy Husbands of Sister Sorel and Tremont 647; Kevin Long of Empire, Tosca and Red Lantern; Pino Maffeo of Lucia; Dante de Magistris of Restaurant Dante; Richard Rayment of Seaport World Trade Center; Robert Tobin of Aura; Roseann Tully of Intermezzo Magazine and Josh Ziskin of LaMorra.
This year, the event will feature a Grand Tasting, showcasing more than 200 wineries, multiple chef demonstrations, a Grand Cru Wine Lounge and Vintner Dinners. We love the vintner dinner series, which, in its second year, offers a weeklong celebration of wine, food and culture. Priced between $45 and $150 a person, sign up for a wine dinner to review some of the varietals featured at the Wine Expo. Dinners this week will be held at various restaurants around town, including La Morra, Strega Waterfront, and Aura at the Seaport.
