Most people love to travel but it can become a hassle when you are forced to leave your furry four-legged friend behind. If you are staying for a night or a week in Boston, here are some of the best hotels in town that will not only accept your pet, but roll out the red carpet for them.
The Hotel Marlowe takes pet-friendly to an entirely new level welcoming both cats and dogs for no additional fee. Located in Kendall Square, at this hotel your pooch will be treated like the VIP (Very Important Pet) that they are. If it's your pet's birthday, be sure to let them know in advance so they may order a birthday cake from the nearby pet bakery Polka Dog Bakery in the South End.
Guests here love the Pampered Pet Package, which includes one-night deluxe overnight accommodations, a cozy bed for your dog or a scratching post for your cat, a fuzzy fleece blanket and a lunch box full of gourmet treats for your pet from Polka Dog Bakery. Upon request, they will also send up a goldfish to your room for added company.
The Colonnade Hotel
For your discriminating pet wanting to stay in Copley Square, head over to The Colonnade Hotel where your pet will receive complimentary use of one of their fluffy pet beds and food bowls. If you forgot your food at home, just ask the concierge for assistance in sending up some Purina One, Iams or Pedigree dog food.
The hotel also offers pet walking services for an additional fee. At the end of your stay, be sure to sign their Pet Register at the front desk so you can be added to the list of pet members for special benefits and offers for future visits. In the summer months, don't miss the hotel's rooftop pool, the only one of its kind in the city. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed here.
The Charles Hotel
Staying over on the other side of the bridge in Cambridge with your four-legged friend? Then head over to The Charles Hotel in Harvard Square. If you let them know in advance of your stay that you are bringing a pet, they will roll out the red carpet for your pooch. From treat snacks to dog food, everything can be arranged in advance of your visit with just a quick call. The hotel is centrally located in the middle of Harvard Square and there are lots of places to take your dog for a walk around the area.
Onyx Hotel
Located just steps from the TD Banknorth Garden (known to locals just as "The Garden") where concerts and sporting events are held (think Bruins and Celtics), there couldn't be a more convenient hotel than The Onyx. As part of the Kimpton Group of hotels, the Onyx also does not charge for pet stays and does not have a size or weight restriction. The welcome amenity for all pets includes gourmet dog treats and clean-up bags. They also offer dog walking and dog sitter services for an additional fee.
