Atlanta Luxury City Guide: Atlanta has come along way from its antebellum roots as a rough and tumble town, transforming into one of the nation’s most modern and luxurious cities.

From its start as a railroad crossing before the Civil War, Atlanta grew into a city during the war and has emerged into a major metropolis in the 1920s. The architecture reflects the many periods and transitions that Atlanta has survived, from the few pre-Civil War homes and buildings to the turn of the century’s fascination with revival architecture, including elements of Beaux Arts Classicism, Neo-Classical, Tudor-Jacobean, Renaissance Revival, Colonial Revival and Commercial.

Although Atlanta is buried deep in the South, it has remained politically remote and is home to a wide array of people, making it one of the fast growing metropolises in America.

City Scene:
Buckhead is one of Atlanta’s most luxurious neighborhoods and is often compared to the city of Beverly Hills in Southern California. Like Beverly Hills, Buckhead is home to wealthy citizens and also has some of the nation’s most highly-rated restaurants within its borders like The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. Also like its West Coast cousin, Buckhead is home to some of the world’s most luxurious brands including Coach, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Club Monaco, Tiffany & Co, and others in the Lenox Square & Phipps Plaza sister malls.

Collier Heights is a registered historic landmark and is home to many wealthy, well-known and affluent African Americans. Historic homeowners in the area include Martin Luther King, Sr., actress Jasmine Guy as well as many of the area’s most prominent African American doctors and lawyers.

Must Sees and Do's:
As an industrial city, many of the nation’s largest companies have headquarters in Atlanta, including The Coca-Cola Company, which recently opened The World of Coca Cola, where visitors can taste Coca Cola products from around the world.

Next to The World of Coca Cola is the Atlanta Aquarium, the world’s largest indoor aquarium. Also in downtown is Underground Atlanta, an underground shopping and entertainment complex.

Museum lovers can take in the Atlanta History Center, Carter Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, APEX Museum, Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum, while The Fernbank Science Center and Imagine It! Children's Museum of Atlanta are perfect for kids.

Atlanta is a musical city and many of the city’s music festivals and events take place in Piedmont Park.

Wining and Dining:
While Southern cooking is a staple of Atlanta’s offerings, visitors can also enjoy international cuisine as well. For some of the city’s newer Southern cookeries, check out Dogwood, an elegant establishment with a grits bar, a traditional Southern favorite that mixes well with modern flavors.

High Velocity at the Marriot Atlanta Marquis puts a new spin on sports bars, featuring a huge variety of beers to be enjoyed with over 20 TV screens, right in the heart of Downtown Atlanta.

In the Midtown area, you will find an array of exciting bars and restaurants. After the High Museum of Art or Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, stop in to South City Kitchen to taste modern Southern cooking. Then grab a nightcap at Sutra Lounge, which serves cocktails along with music into the wee hours.

For the VIP:
With many of the nation’s wealthiest people making their homes in Atlanta, make like a local and indulge in some VIP services:

Cooper Global Transportation will whisk around the city in luxury style, whether you’re headed out to dinner or a sports game. Choose from their wide variety of luxuriously appointed party buses and shuttles, perfect for partying it up ATL style.

At Opera Atlanta, one of the city’s most upscale venues, indulge like a VIP and reserve a booth at a celebrity favorite hotspot. With a VIP membership, you can get more than just bottle service, including invites to the club’s celebrity events.

Presenting Atlanta is a DMC company offering the best in southern hospitality, making it the perfect company to trust with planning your corporate events and activities.
