Harare NightlifeHarare has a vibrant, somewhat infamous nightlife. Although
entertainment in the city has long been dominated by restaurants,
the nightlife in Harare is going from strength to strength as the
economy slowly improves, with scores of new clubs and bars opening
in 201l alone. These range from laid-back jazz and blues clubs and
restaurants to pumping clubs with a revolving line-up of DJs and
bands. Venues are scattered throughout Harare, with a cluster of
clubs in the newer Sam Levy Village area in Borrowdale, a bit like
a US strip mall in feel and in price. Besides the established dance
scene, many new clubs are attempting to offer something a little
different - so there''s an increasingly wide choice of live music
venues, dance clubs, sports bars, jazz clubs, pool bars, cafés and
restaurants. The Mannenburg Jazz Club in town has a live performances every
night except Sunday, while the popular Book Café next door is an
arty café with lots of live music, launches, and events. It''s
recently been expanded and refurbished to feature a large stage,
function areas, bar area, kitchen with pizza oven and beer garden
area. Kebab on Enterprise Road features a reggae act every
Saturday. |
