The extravagant event is part of the Hainan International Yachting and High-end Lifestyle Show. This year marks the fifth running of the yacht show and festivities are expected to attract more than 40,000 visitors. While the latter two take a biographical approach to commemorate the iconic designer, the new exhibit, which will run today through March 3, is thematically based on a ballet called Le Train Bleu,for which Chanel designed the costumes. The display is meant to showcase the designer's modern lifestyle and involvement in the arts by featuring 400 pieces, including Chanel jewelry and apparel— both new and old— as well as sketches, books, and manuscripts from other artists and writers and accompanying photos and videos of Chanel and her friends.... The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu, in Tianfu Square, is home to one of the city's largest commercial districts. The building itself was designed by Mario Botta, who is also responsible for the iconic San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, using eco-friendly materials. The architecture stands out among the historic surroundings in its contemporary design, but Botta dressed the façade in natural terracotta, which is popular along the streets of Hengshan. HNA Tourism recently founded the first Chinese cruise company to own their own vessel. The ship “Henna,” the mainland’s largest cruise ship ever, is set to make its appearance onto the wild blue yonder January 26, 2013. The ship contains 739 rooms and can hold up to 1,965 passengers. As interest in Asia increases among the world’s traveling elite, HNA Tourism Cruise and Yacht Management President Zhang Hao anticipates that the cruise industry in China will grow rapidly, and he and his company obviously hope to remain at the top of the pyramid.
