LG recently announced that its LG PX950, a plasma 3D HDTV line, is the first 3D HDTV line to be certified by THX. This THX-certification process put the PX950 model through more than 400 laboratory tests. THX researched its certification-process testing for more than a year.
"THX spent more than a year in the lab developing our certification criteria and testing methodologies for 3D TVs and content," said Rick Dean, a senior VP at THX. "To present a truly immersive 3D experience in the home, a THX 3D-certified TV must be capable of delivering consistent stereoscopic images with accurate color and clean processing. THX applauds the LG PX950 as the first 3D TV series to pass this rigorous testing to achieve THX certification."
The LG series of HDTV 3D television sets offer an array of viewing experiences while remaining very simple to operate. With a push of a button, viewers can select THX 2D or 3D cinema modes. LG also reports that its 2.1-inch-thin TV delivers the fastest action sequences in gaming, sports and movies. The PX950 series is available in a 60- and a 50-inch screen size. The manufacturer's price is $2,999 and $1,999, respectively.
