Interior designer Adam D. Tihany is incredibly well known for his restaurant work, including Thomas Keller’s Per Sé and Bouchon, Le Cirque 2000 and Sirio for the Maccioni family, and Daniel Boulud’s Daniel in New York City. He's so iconic that Rizzoli even published a book about his interiors called Tihany: Iconic Hotels and Restaurant Interiors. Wanting to tap into some of that esteem, the Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice hired Tihany to design their new restaurant project, Oro.
Oro (which means "gold") is a pretty fitting name for the restaurant and its intricate details, from the Seguso chandeliers and the Rubelli fabrics on the chairs to the sculptures by Luciano Vistosi and the blown glass candelabras by Venini. The main dining room has a gold leafed ceiling and a handmade Murano glass chandelier hanging in the center. The terrace overlooks the Rio San Giorgio and is furnished with wrought iron chairs and stone tables.
Starring in the kitchen is Michelin-starred Executive Chef Davide Bisetto, who was called in to "reinterpret the gastronomic tradition of the historic Venetian hotel with his culinary creativity. Oro’s modern design wedded to Venice’s time-honored tradition and opulence is reflected in Bisetto’s cuisine, which skillfully plays on the finest Italian ingredients."
Breakfast runs from 7:30am to 11am, lunch from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, and dinner from 7:30pm to 10pm.
