In a move that has one-upped their Senzati Jet Sprinter, Mercedes-Benz has taken to the skies by partnering with Lufthansa Technik to design uber exclusive interiors for private jets. Much easier than building their own aircraft from the ground up, the German automotive brand is taking all they know about crafting bespoke luxury cars and reinventing it for this one-of-a-kind VIP cabin concept.
"The purpose of our cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Style is to unite the two companies' innovative expertise in the areas of design and technology. Our goal is to offer a highly discerning global clientele a standard of interior design that leaves nothing to be desired. Whether for private or business use, our modular completion concept perfectly fits every purpose," says Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice President VIP & Executive Jet Solutions, Lufthansa Technik AG.
Looking more like something you’d find aboard a luxury yacht, the VIP cabin features a “spiral layout,” which allows for living areas that aren’t defined by the traditional separation of the ceiling from the walls and floors. With each area flowing into the next, the interior is enhanced with sleek furniture pieces that look to be organic extensions of the cabin’s shell. Inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the windows can be hidden completely thanks to black panels, which can be dimmed electronically from black to transparent. The paneling is also where fliers can find display and touch screens for entertainment and information.
Though this is a design concept right now, the two companies will spend the next few months evaluating consumer interest in such a cabin. Judging by these renderings, we can’t imagine Mercedes-Benz and Lufthansa being met with anything but excitement and open check books.
