New York Fashion Week is all about street style shots, trend spotting and celebrity sightings—rarely does a jewelry collection make waves during the event, especially a brand that’s still up and coming. But this season, Australian label Sarah & Sebastian crafted custom-molded facial jewelry for the models at Dion Lee S/S 16 and the fashion set has been flipping out. The facial pieces, which literally run the length of each model's face bisecting them in half, were individually designed for each girl and accounted for every bump, slope and shape on each of their faces. It’s actually pretty awesome.
Designer Sarah Gittoes worked closely with Lee to create a collection of jewelry for the models as they walked down the runway. It was intended to reflect the minimalist pieces in the ready-to-wear collection by paralleling the neutral tones and asymmetric details, but this little accessory may have stolen the show. Made in sterling silver or rose gold, these contour pieces are probably some of the more exceptional accessories we’ve seen so far during NYFW.
Of course, because they were custom-designed to fit by tension, they're not very wearable pieces—you couldn’t eat, drink, talk or really do anything without them popping off. But we bet, worn for a minute or two, they would make for a pretty amazing Instagram shot.
