The beauty app Glamsquad has just secured $15 million in venture capital. The online start-up allows users to book hair and makeup appointments and send a stylist to wherever they need—an office, home, or wedding venue—to help them get pampered. When the brand launched in January 2014 their growth was slow and steady. After almost two years of business and a round of fundraising, the service is still only available in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. But that’s all about to change. With their capital from New Enterprise Associates and other unnamed investors, they’re about to expand into Washington DC, Dallas and Chicago.
With this $15 million investment, Glamsquad has officially raised $24 million to date, and with the new funds, CEO Alexandra Wilkis Wilson has announced plans to add cities, services and products to the brand. Currently the app offers blowouts, makeup sessions, and in New York, manicures. But she hopes to make more services available and expand on their new bridal packages. Wilkis Wilson has also made mention of offering beauty brands for sale on the app, and someday adding their own line of Glamsquad-branded products.
