To be honest, we don’t expect much from the Billboard Music Awards red carpet. The show is great, the performances are awesome and for the most part, the awards are given to some pretty deserving artists. But the red carpet is similar to the Grammys—it’s all hit or miss and lots of experimentation. This year though, the ladies decided to elevate their looks with lots of neutral colors and sparkle—but considering the show was held in Vegas, the dazzling dresses were more than appropriate. Ariana Grande wore an ultra-cool Atelier Versace gown, but almost face planted on the red carpet, tripping over the hem and barely catching herself at the last minute. Ciara and Meghan Trainor looked chic in similar sequin gowns by Philipp Plein and Michael Costello respectively. The look we didn’t love? Britney Spears in a Reem Acra tunic, sans pants. But the popstar redeemed herself later that night with stellar performance of her greatest hits, and quick backstage wardrobe change into a much more flattering Charbel Zoe Couture crop top and skirt.
