Rather than showcase a large, impersonal collection of wedding gowns, Sabrina Dahan decided to present an intimate line of only seven dresses for her Spring 2017 show during Bridal Fashion Week. Unlike most gowns, her collection is full of color: soft pastel hand-beaded leaves and flowers are layered over billowing yards of tulle, dresses that seem white at first glance are actually very pale shades of yellow, blush and mint. It is a whimsical line that feels delicate and modern, but doesn’t stray far from tradition.
Besides being very Instagramable come wedding day, the pieces are sartorial works of art. Inspired by French impressionists, she uses the fabric as her canvas in an attempt to capture each brides’ personality. Depicting the “fun and freedom to express oneself on one the most important days of your life,” the collection pops with beaded brocade, lace overlay and layers upon layers of tulle. Collection highlights include a series of dresses with illusion necklines—beaded flowers and vines that creep up the bust and over the décolletage making the florals seem to almost grow over the hemline of the gown.
