Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin is to stage its ninth season July 6-9. Its main entrance is facing the city's famous Brandenburg Gate, but the Spring/Summer 2012 collections will be presented in a tent on Strasse des 17. Juni.
"The support of the city of Berlin in providing such a premier location, shows that creativity and fashion as a cultural artifact play a big role for the German capital," said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will once again present many new and returning designers for the Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Among the confirmed designers are: A.F. VANDEVORST, ALLUDE, ANJA GOCKEL, AUSTRIAN FASHION DESIGN, BASLER, BLACKY DRESS, CELIA CZERLINSKI, C'EST TOUT, DAWID TOMASZEWSKI, DESIGNER FOR TOMORROW hosted by Marc Jacobs and presented by Peek & Cloppenburg, DIMITRI, ESCADA SPORT, EVA & BERNARD, FRIDA WEYER, G-STAR, GREEN SHOWROOM, HANNES KETTRITZ, HIEN LE, HTW Fashion School Berlin IM_PULS, HUGO, IRENE LUFT, IRIS VAN HERPEN presented by Mercedes-Benz, KARLOTTA WILDE, KILIAN KERNER, LALA BERLIN, LAURÈL, LENA HOSCHEK, MALAIKA RAISS, MARCEL OSTERTAG, MARIUSZ PRZYBYLSKI, MICHAEL SONTAG, MICHALSKY, MINX by Eva Lutz, MONGRELS IN COMMON, PATRICK MOHR, PERRET SCHAAD, REBEKKA RUETZ, RENA LANGE, ROMANIAN DESIGNERS, STEPHAN PELGER, STRENESSE BLUE, SCHUMACHER, VLADIMIR KARALEEV and WOOD WOOD.
Good news for the designers, and visitors, is an addition to the well-known runway venue. This year a new presentation space called "The Studio" will be included; here, designers can free themselves of the limitations of a classic catwalk. The idea behind the "The Studio" is to make it possible for designers to build unique scenery and allow the professional audience to roam freely and view the collections up close.
"We are happy to have been the title partner of this great event since inception. The return of this major fashion event to this iconic location is something that we are all very excited about," says Anders Sundt Jensen, Vice President Brand Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars.
At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin premiere, Mercedes-Benz's international key visual - Concept A-CLASS - is also expected to accelerate visitors' pulses. Illustrating the creative potential of Mercedes-Benz's commitment to fashion and representing a precious symbiosis of fashion and automotive technology in an impressive manner, Concept A-CLASS was also be put under the spotlight by star photographer Terry Richardson, creating a picture of seduction that is truly breathtaking.
In addition to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks in Berlin, New York, Moscow and Stockholm, the famous automaker is the title sponsor of the Fashion Weeks in Miami and Mexico City as well as the Fashion Festival in Brisbane. Mercedes-Benz is also actively involved in the fashion capitals of Paris, London, Milan and Beijing, and numerous other fashion events.
