Last Sunday the royal family celebrated Princess Charlotte’s christening, and Mario Testino, the celebrity photographer, was invited to snap the official family photos. Today he finally released a series of the images on his official Instagram, and we have to say, they’re pretty adorable. The first few shots show the family arriving at the church —Prince George rocking a stylish pair of bright red shorts with mom and dad dressed in their Sunday best. There are also images of the entire extended family (Her Majesty included), as well as intimate photos of Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. It’s the first time the four have been photographed together as a family unit.
The high-profile christening was overseen by the Archbishop of Canterbury and took place at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham. Charlotte wore the same lace gown as her brother, Prince George, did two years prior, and all five of her godparents were in attendance. Testino managed to also snap a few “candid” photos (they’re the royal family—we doubt anything they do is candid) of the family in the garden and one of Kate looking adoringly at her new little bundle of joy. “I am overwhelmed and honored to be chosen to take these portraits on the occasion of Princess Charlotte's christening,” the photographer said in his Instagram caption. “To carry on the documentation of the family that is the soul of this country, a country that has given me so much.”
