Chicago, Illinois.July 11, 2015: In celebration of the rich and diverse history of Chicago’s Rush street area and bringing together some of the finest original talent that helped to make the area world famous, get ready for an event truly 50 years in the making. The Rush Street Reunion 2015 will bring together entertainment, consisting of live jazz, rock & blues talent from the 1960’s and 1970’s, and some of the original Rush street DJ’s from the 1970’s through the 1990’s for one extraordinary day of remembrance.
In a rare Chicago appearance, will be a live jazz set from legendary pianist Danny Long and the Danny Long Trio (Backroom, London House, Mister Kelly’s), featuring Nick Schneider on bass, and Rusty Jones on drums, with select Chicago celebrity vocalists and instrumentalists sitting in from 2pm until 4 pm. Taking the helm with a mighty blues/rock quartet from 4 pm to 5 pm will be guitarist Ronnie Laas (Rush Up, Mother’s, Whisky a Go-Go). The festivities will culminate with a 2 hour set of disco and dance music from original Rush Street area DJ’s “Dr. Dale” Dale Kolbus (from FACES, Mother’s, P.S. Chicago), DJ David Floodstrand (Eddie Rockets, Hangge Uppe, Hunt Club), and Steve Reiter “DJ Sloride (Mother’s, Hunt Club), it will be a reunion of bartenders, waitresses, managers, club and restaurant owners, DJs, musicians, and patrons of the Rush Street area night clubs popular from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. The ultimate industry party, created and produced by David Floodstrand author of the soon to be published book “Rush Street, Chicago’s Street of Dreams” it chronicles the rich history of the Rush Street area from the 1800’s to the 1980’s. Mr. Floodstrand is a producer, jazz vocalist, and owner of The DJ School of Skokie.
The event will take place in the epicenter of the Rush street entertainment district in Newberry Plaza at Connie’s Pizza 1030 N. State Street, Chicago, IL 60610 on Sunday August 30th 2015 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Rush Street Reunion 2015 is a Lupus Foundation of America partner, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to fund Lupus research. There will be a sumptuous buffet featuring Connie’s signature pizzas, passed hors d'oeuvres, a carving station for roast beef, salad bar, and delicacies prepared by Connie’s executive chef.
