We knew singer-turned-modern-day-pinup Lana Del Rey would be lending her timeless looks to retailer H&M, but who knew the campaign was going to be SO cool. The ad campaign was shot by mush sough after fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin who played up Del Rey’s classic beauty mixed with old Hollywood flare.
“The mood is very L.A. noir,” Donald Schneider, H&M’s creative director, told WWD.
Del Rey’s pouty lips are also a star of the shoot: “They're real lips, I mean. In real life my lips don't look that big,” Del Rey told T magazine. “I think because I cartoonized the footage of myself in the video for 'Video Games' things look exaggerated."
The ads are nostalgic and incorporate old Hollywood makeup and hair. Del Rey flaunts thick cat-eye liner complete with wings, voluminous bouffant and a pouty nude lip.
The collection highlights a mix of chunky mint-green cable-knit sweaters, pink angora-blend layers, brightly printed ankle-cut trousers, fur-trimmed coats, and faux leather driving gloves.
The sultry singer is pouting her way to the top of the fashion world and H&M solidified a perfect image with Del Rey as the face for Fall.
