There is something to be said about discovering a neighborhood restaurant that not only delivers a great meal but a memorable experience. That’s exactly what you will find at Burtons Grill in Hingham, Mass.
Located in the Derby Street Shoppes, the restaurant takes dining out to a new level from its scratch kitchen (where they make all of their sauces and dressings) to the beautifully designed dining room lined with modern paintings, sumptuous dark booths, high ceilings and adjacent bustling bar.
Our friendly server Shannon got us started with a sampling of their famed Philly spring rolls, a generous sampling of juicy sirloin filled with onions, American and provolone cheeses wrapped in a light flaky pastry fried to a golden perfection served with a side of spicy ketchup. We couldn’t get enough of the baked stuffed zucchini, a delicate portion of thinly sliced zucchini rolled with a tasty herb cheese topped with tangy tomato sauce and parmesan cheese served with crunchy garlic toast.
General Manager Stephen Slicis is always seen at the restaurant checking in with guests to be sure they are having an enjoyable experience while Chef Brian Whalen can be found in the kitchen preparing favorite dishes like cod imperial, Mediterranean chicken risotto and salmon romesco.
For dinner, we recommend the eight-ounce filet mignon, grilled to a medium rare perfection served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and butternut squash. The New York strip was just as good cooked to our rare liking complemented with roasted potatoes and butternut squash. Seasonal dishes here include short rib pot pie filled with root vegetables.
Be sure to save room for the chocolate torte or key lime pie, which are the perfect endings to a memorable evening.
