I'm not disputing the fact that belted coats or belts worn over coats is a great way to wear the latest in fashionable outerwear (it is), but calling it a "new" trend is pretty reckless. Fashionable women have been wearing belts with coats for as long as I remember; it sure as heck isn't anything new. 

Earlier this winter, we briefly touched on belted outerwear during Coat Week, but the trend has grown to include actual belts worn over jackets—not just the standard, matching tie belt—so we figured it was time to expand upon this topic.
