This past spring, Michelin announced it’d be creating its first guide in our nation’s capital. This week, the inaugural edition hit bookstores and honored 12 Washington, D.C. restaurants with its prestigious stars. Although no eatery earned three stars, its highest honor, three restaurants did get two-star designations.
Michelin ranks restaurants in 28 countries and is in only three US cities. Of those American destinations, only 20 eateries have two stars. So while not the top designation, receiving two stars is no easy feat. The three restaurants now boasting two stars are The Inn at Little Washington helmed by Patrick O’Connell, minibar by Chef José Andrés and Pineapple & Pearls from Chef Aaron Silverman.
Coming in below them with one star each are nine venues: Blue Duck Tavern, The Dabney, Fiola, Kinship, Masseria, Plume, Rose’s Luxury, Sushi Taro and Tail Up Goat. The smallest of any Michelin guides, the 96-page book took into account restaurants within the city itself (with the exception of The Inn at Little Washington’s) and not the surrounding areas. If your favorite restaurant is on this list, be sure to expect longer wait times and even harder reservations.
