Building upon an already impressive portfolio, the Trump Hotel Collection will be opening a D.C. location in 2016 along with a signature restaurant by José Andrés. ThinkFoodGroup announced late last month that the forthcoming eatery will debut in the new property.
“Everything about Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C.—from its magnificent guest rooms and Presidential Suites, to the ballroom and spa—will be the very best, and the culinary experience is no exception,” said Donald J. Trump. “We’ve tapped one of the very best in the field, José Andrés, to create a restaurant concept that will live up to the unrivaled offerings of what will be one of the finest hotels anywhere in the world.”
Andrés, a Spanish American chef, is often credited for bringing the small plates dining concept to the states and today owns restaurants in Beverly Hills, South Beach, Las Vegas and D.C. In 2012, Time magazine named him “One of the world's 100 most influential people.”
The renowned chef shared his respect for Trump and his work in a press release, while stating his enthusiasm for opening another restaurant in the city he’s lived in for many years. Following a $200 million redevelopment of the historic Old Post Office, the hotel will have 270 guestrooms with 16-foot ceilings, crystal sconces and chandeliers, and beautifully restored historic millwork.
The yet-to-be-named restaurant will be located off the main lobby and ThinkFoodGroup will head the lobby’s food & beverage and banquet menus. With a 5,000-square-foot luxury spa, state-of-the-art fitness center and 36,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the new hotel will cater to both leisure and business travelers.
