Mexico has its share of picturesque destinations and plenty of luxe hotels lining its shoreline. But it’s Casa Tres Soles that really has us dreaming of azure waters and fresh margs in Punta Mita. Sitting on a a secluded plateau overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the nine-bedroom residence includes three master suites, four guestrooms and two Casita bedrooms.
The villa was designed by artists Juan Collignon Hoff and Manuel Mestre, and features 18,000 square feet of space indoors and 20,000 square feet outdoors. One of the main focal points is its main palapa that sits beside the half-moon pool offering 160 feet of infinity edge and direct beach access. Furnished with oversized sofas, a dining table and lounge chairs, the thatched-roof space is the perfect place to view one of Mexico’s pristine sunsets.
With the ability to sleep 18 guests (or 20 with small children), the villa is made up of upper- and ground-level accommodations, all with air-conditioning. The two casitas are situated separate from the rest of the residence (you know, so grams and gramps can get some sleep during late-night imbibing). Televisions are also included in all bedrooms, but our guess is that you won’t really be needing them in this paradise.
Around the property, guests can utilize the villa’s home theater, fitness center, outdoor gas grill, sauna and massage room, among its other amenities. And, to make sure that everything runs smoothly during your stay, the villa also includes a house manager and assistant manager, waiters, bartenders, chef and kitchen assistants, a concierge, housekeepers and a laundress. Talk about never having to lift a finger!
Those hoping to maintain their fitness regimen while on vacation, can arrange for an in-house yoga class, personalize a healthy eating menu for the week or look into one of the area’s active outdoor excursions. Before the day ends, be sure to follow up your activities with an in-house massage and spa treatment.
Mexico’s nearly perfect, year-round weather also makes for some great outdoor activities. Guests at Casa Tres Soles can practice their balance by trying paddle boarding, watch whales on a boating excursion, horseback ride or charter a sailboat to navigate Mexico’s waters. You can also make a trip to the nearby Marieta Islands National Park, a destination filled with 44 species of flora and fauna, and home to the biggest diversity of reef fish in the Bay of Banderas. The area is also a sanctuary for reproduction, feeding and resting of migratory seabirds, so you may even have a Blue-Footed Booby sighting.
Another cool activity for groups and families is the community interaction programs. Guests can work with a peace organization or participate in a turtle release event during their stay. Each year Sea Turtles are born on Sayulita’s beaches, and as a part of the release initiative, visitors will have a hand in helping get the hatchlings back to the sea while avoiding predators.
Nearby the property are also the gated communities of the St. Regis and Four Seasons, just a few minute’s drive away. Since your villa also comes with a 15-passenger minibus and a nine-passenger SUV with drivers, it’s an easy option to get out and about in Punta Mita. The communities offer Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses, the Resident’s Beach Club, a tennis center and Four Seasons’ restaurants and boutique shops. If you’d prefer to stay close to home for meals, you can opt to have your residence stocked with food prior to your arrival (advanced notice required). If you’re planning for a party though, why not make it a themed event? The property can also help with organizing a creative affair such as a Mexican Fiesta or a White Party.
With the backdrop of the Pacific and accommodations grand enough to fit the whole family, we’re pretty sure you’ll never want to leave Casa Tres Soles. Rates begin at around $10,000/night for a five-night minimum stay until April 30, 2015. During Christmas, rates start at $15,000 for a minimum seven-night stay from December 21-27.
