Guests to the Cleveland Orchestra, Severance Hall were in for a treat, as Pink Martini turned what may have been just another admirable performance into a fun filled blast, even ushering audience members into a conga line in what was once a hall dedicated to beautiful, but admittedly drab classical performances styles.

The last time Pink Martini performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, Severance Hall saw something that must have been unimaginable to the august personages who had envisioned and built this temple of culture and high art -- a conga line.

Well, in these latter days, such phenomena have become routine, as the Cleveland Orchestra expands its geographical and conceptual territory into the realms of crossover and world music. And Tuesday night's holiday concert with Pink Martini would have seemed somehow incomplete if there had not been a conga line snaking its way through the main-floor seats.
