December 19th through the 25th will be a fascinating period for sailors in and around Mumbai as the city launches its first ever Festival of Sails, a weeklong festival featuring numerous competitions and events bringing together more than 250 sailors and their ships.
More than 250 sailors — including the likes of women's Laser Radial champion Rohini Rau, men's Laser Radial champion BK Rout, boys Laser Radial champion Vir Menon and men's Laser Standard champion S Patra — from all over the country will come together for the inaugural Mumbai Festival of Sails, a week-long festival of different competitive sailing events to be held on the waters off the Gateway of India from December 19 to 25.
Based on sailing festivals that are held in all the major waterfront cities — New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto — the Mumbai Festival of Sails looks to make a mark in the events calendar of the city and grow into an international event with the support of MTDC.
