Angela V. Ignacio Starbucks took the world by storm several years ago, but it isn't without competition: Manila is the latest city to be hit in a spree of rapid expansion from South Korean based Caffe Bene, and this time it was a double whammy. Two of the popular new cafes will open in the city, bringing some of Asia's favorite hot drinks to yet another frontier.
Yeah, it’s everywhere. And by that, we mean everywhere. Those who have been to Seoul have most likely seen a Caffe Bene shop at every corner. Plus, Koreanovela fans might recognize the café from the kilig-inducing “crème kiss” scene in the romance/drama “Secret Garden,” where the male lead kisses the cappuccino foam off his lady love’s lip.
