Dario Ayala/Montreal Gazette This was something that probably caught everyone off guard. 16,000 45-gallon barrels of maple syrup were drained from their contents in a factory in Quebec and were most likely hauled away in a tanker. This sticky situation is probably one that has authorities on the hotcake... err, seat. As of now, no arrests have been made but hopefully sweet justice will soon be extracted.

The purloined product even traversed a provincial border after sticky-fingered thieves made off with the amber gold over the summer months.
Contents of 16,000 45-gallon barrels, siphoned off and reported stolen from a central distribution centre in August, have been found.
