Treehouse Living at Hilton Seychelles Northolme

May. 11th, 2021

Located roughly thirty minutes from the Victoria-Seychelles airport, the transfer to the Hilton resort flies by in lush landscape and slightly harrowing turns across the island of Mahé. For those unfamiliar with the geography of Mahé, the Hilton Seychelles Northolme is located on a steep site at the northern tip of Beau Vallon Bay. Like many similar properties across the Seychelles, guests can expect stunning views of the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. One of the things that immediately impresses is the limited number of keys at the property, all of which have ocean views and some with direct ocean access. Having stayed at a few of the larger resorts, we immediately appreciate the cozier atmosphere at the Hilton.

There is an appropriate number of dining options for a smaller property, including Wave, the open-air outlet available for lunch and dinner. Mahe is an all-day dining outlet and is inspired by local Creole cuisine. Ocean View Bar also offers uninterrupted views, beautiful sunsets, a split-level deck, and a selection of local and international cocktails. There is also a popup bar, The Lower Deck, which features gin-based drinks, which is open on the weekend.

For accommodation, there are several categories; however, each of the treehouse-style villas sits tucked among tropical foliage, connected by narrow pathways. The highest classification, the Ocean View Pool Villa, includes an open floor plan where the bedroom, living room, and bath area flows seamlessly. The panoramic ocean view, semi-private balcony, plunge pool, and semi-private balcony make this a memorable suite and perhaps offer more value for money than other rooms of this caliber on the island. If visiting Mahe for the first time, we think the suite is worth the splurge. Private plunge pools are found throughout the island, but the size at Northolme is more significant than most.

We’re also impressed to learn that Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novels, stayed in a suite on the property to work on For Your Eyes Only. Keen Bond fans might find this exciting (and want to book the suite).

As for amenities, there is a serviceable gym located beneath the breathtaking infinity pool, and honestly, there are very few vistas that can beat the location of the treadmills, which look out onto waves crashing on the Hilton’s private beach. Wifi can be a bit spotty in public spaces, so guests used to being connected at all times might want to consider purchasing a local telecom package.

Those looking to relax should make an appointment at the Eforea Spa. The property utilizes Elemis products across its treatments and services. Guests can expect a range of massages, scrubs, facials, and wraps, with treatment rooms that boast views of the Indian Ocean.

Would we return to Hilton Northolme? Without question! We like that this luxury is accessible, and we can save our dollars for a more extended stay. Start or end your holiday here to maximize and unwind in the Seychelles.

Families with younger children should be aware that the Hilton Northolme is only open to those with children 13 and up.

All members of the travel party were vaccinated and followed country and airline protocols during this trip.
