Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara is a lavish five-star hotel nestled on the California coast; and, along with its stunning property, offers a top-notch spa that has received a number of accolades. The property boasts breathtaking water views, even from the spa lobby, is one of the finest examples of Spanish Architecture in California.
When this grand dame was purchased in 2000 by Ty Warner, founder of Ty Inc. (the creator of Beanie Babies), he added his magic touch of success. Among his renovations, his team revamped the total guest rooms to provide a more contemporary feel, while still maintaining a casually-chic Santa Barbara style.
Designed by Peter Marino — who’s worked for such notable fashion houses as Armani, Chanel, DKNY, and Louis Vuitton — the opulent spa and pool is a focal point of The Biltmore. The spa suites feature bathrooms lined with custom Spanish tile, deep soaking tubs and rain shower heads. Some also feature private steam showers and radiant floor heating.
The 10,000-square-foot spa maintains its historic origins with a modern spa touch, and as a recipient of a Forbes Travel Guide award, this oceanfront spa is truly an elegant sanctuary of peace and tranquility. Four of the ten treatment rooms are full-service suites and are great options for Romantic Getaways. The deluxe couples’ suite comes with a fireplace, oversized whirlpool, Swiss shower and ocean view terrace. You can savor this relaxing treatment with a signature massage on twin tables, a purifying Volcanic Earth Clay Ritual, Aloe and Lavender Facial and a light spa lunch.
If you are going it alone, try the Tata Harper Rejuvenating Stone Facial designed to enhance vitality, radiance and overall well being. The benefits of the Pure Rejuvenating Facial incorporates warm stones to open the pores and provide relaxation. Cool stones then close pores, soothe and regenerate the skin, leaving it stronger, healthier and glowing. It is truly a unique experience to have warm stones under your shoulders; and as a spa aficionado, it is rare for me to find such a unique treatment, especially in the United States.
Hanging out by the pool, guests can enjoy a cocktail or cool off with an Evian Spritz. There is even underwater music to lull you to sleep while floating in the sunlit pool. Deeply padded, the custom designed Thai Teak chaise lounge chairs situated around the pool are elegantly designed and extremely comfortable. The property also boasts two large whirlpools, one of which contains natural mineral water drawn from the Four Seasons Biltmore’s own well and filters the water through a croma generator to reduce the need for chlorine. It was an absolute delight to be able soak and relax without the strong scent of chemicals.
If you get a bit antsy, you can try out your tennis game on one of the three lighted tennis courts, play croquet on the Recreation Lawn or practice on the putting green. You must be sure to check out the crown jewel of the resort’s renowned gardens, The Spa Rose Garden, with the fragrant allure that is irresistible, especially when Valentine’s are in the air. Or, explore the town of Santa Barbara that is filled with old and new Spanish architecture, museums, shopping and great seashore restaurants. You can stroll along the waterfront, visit the famous Santa Barbara Zoo, play a round at a championship golf course nearby, or just hang out at the private beachfront club.
Nestled on Butterfly Beach in exclusive Montecito, the resort is always highly rated as one of the top resorts in the U.S. and shares company with celebrity estates among natural landscapes of vineyards, rugged canyons and golden sands. The Four Seasons embodies the most elegant surroundings and hospitality, and its accommodations offer world-class views of the Pacific.
