Guerlain, a long-time leader in fragrance, skin care and makeup, has set up luxury spas in some of the biggest cities around the world, including Paris, Tokyo and New York City; soon, the first Guerlain Spa in the UK will debut inside the historic The Caledonian, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Edinburgh. The Victorian-style Scottish hotel is currently undergoing a £24 million (approx. $39 million) renovation and is set to re-open this month, with the debut of the spa to follow.
"Founded in 1828, Guerlain's history runs parallel with the history of skincare,” said Louise Moore, director of spa operations and development, Hilton Worldwide. “It is this expertise and the established, sophisticated connotations of the brand that we felt had a natural synergy with the intrinsic elegance of Waldorf Astoria Hotels. Each treatment is transformed into a unique and personal occasion by highly skilled beauty therapists who will provide guests with a bespoke and boutique experience that will really reflect the spa's essence."
To reinforce the idea of exclusivity and intimacy, the spa contains just three treatment rooms. Upon arrival, the personalized visit will begin with a complete analysis and skin diagnosis to ensure the services will be effectively geared toward each individual’s needs. Even before any treatments begin, guests are offered an aromatherapy foot bath to promote relaxation straightaway.
Treatments utilize specially created Guerlain products and run the gamut from reflexology to facials to makeup sessions and will feature a signature massage in honor of the opening: The 'Edinburgh Caledonian Chic.’ Locals and hotel guests alike, will also be able to take advantage of the spa’s other amenities like the swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and 24-hour gym facilities. The menu is priced from £40 ($65) for single services to £275 ($443) for half or full day of pampering. Visit CaledonianHiltonEdinburgh.co.uk to learn more.
