Next Friday, the Singapore Food Festival (SFF) will kick off its annual event under the theme of “Savor the Past, Taste the Future.” From July 15-31, attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in a line-up of 18 gastronomic experiences that walk guests through the city-state’s food history. “The Singapore Food Festival has been carrying the torch for Singapore’s vibrant food legacy since 1994. After 23 years, it is still the only food festival in Singapore to feature local flavors and showcase the inventive spirit of our ever-evolving food scene,” said Ranita Sundra, Director of Attractions, Dining and Retail, Singapore Tourism Board.
This year’s signature event is STREAT, which will feature a pop-up restaurant helmed by international celebrity chef Susur Lee who will be joined by Senior Executive Chef Ken Ling of Tunglok Heen and Chef-Owner Han Liguang of Restaurant Labyrinth. The affair will highlight a curated medley of Singapore F&B establishments, and the three chefs will re-interpret the Lion City’s iconic street food in a “six-hands” dinner menu.
Other experiences include learning how to cook Singapore Chili Crab and stewed Hokkien noodles from Chef Tony Khoo at Cooking from the Heart; ang ku kueh and cake decorating with Learning Journeys; and Open Stoves by Timbre+ which offers a look into a chef’s world with cooking demos, live music and a pop-up BBQ.
