Hyatt Hotels and property developers M+S are planning to open an Andaz Hotel in the hip Ophi- Rochor district of Singapore. The hotel, which is not slated to open until 2017, will be a part of the upcoming Duo Development and will be home to over 340 guest rooms, multiple restaurants and bars, a lounge area, meeting and event spaces, spa services, a fitness center, a gift shop, and an outdoor pool and venue. The hotel will be the first Andaz in Singapore and the first in Southeast Asia.
“Singapore is one of the main business and commercial centers of Asia with robust demand for both business and leisure travel, and Hyatt is committed to being in the locations where we know our guests are traveling,” David Udell, Group President of Asia Pacific for Hyatt, said in a statement. “The Andaz brand is an ideal fit for the vibrant DUO development, and this hotel will join several other exciting Andaz hotels in the pipeline in locations like Delhi, Munich, and Bali.”
The Duo Development, designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Ole Scheeren, is in the first stages of construction and upon completion will cover an area of 1.73 million square feet. In addition to the hotel, the 49-story property will include 660 luxury residences, 56,000 square feet of retail space and 570,000 square feet of office space. The two towers of the Duo Development will curve along a crescent and include gardens, a viewing platform and pools on the multi-level rooftops. It will also include a direct underground connection to the Bugis MRT Station.
