Have you ever wanted to fly the skies with Hello Kitty? Maybe not, but we’re betting the kids sure do. EVA Airways has been flying Hello Kitty-themed planes all over the world since 2005, but their latest Sanrio jet is a newly designed Boeing 777-300ER, covered in characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody and Little Twin Stars. The new plane, the seventh in their Hello Kitty fleet, is nicknamed Shining Star (too adorable!) and will be based in Singapore with flights to, from and between Taipei and Houston.
Of course the cuteness doesn’t stop with a few well-placed characters on the exterior of a plane. Everything about the flight says Hello Kitty—and we mean everything. Travelers check in at a pink, Hello Kitty-themed desk and luggage is plastered with pink bag tags, fragile stickers and boarding passes. Inside, Hello Kitty, My Melody and Little Twin Stars characters can be found on food, cutlery, pillows, bathroom soap and toilet paper. Even the flight attendants are dressed in Hello Kitty uniforms.
Shining Star is only the second jet to have updated seats, built-in touch screen entertainment systems and Wi-Fi. Just in case Hello Kitty doesn’t entertain the kids for the duration of the flight, the TV definitely will. Parents can also pick up a number of Sanrio toys and souvenirs for their little ones.
Shining Star is priced the same as all other EVA Airways flights—just be sure to book early as Hello Kitty-themed flights tend to sell out quicker than most.
