Philippe Starck’s name seems to be popping up everywhere these days, especially when it comes to the hotel industry. One of his latest projects, The South Beach, a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is set to open later this year in the hub of downtown.
“The South Beach is a completely original concept, developed to strike the perfect balance between work and play. With 654 rooms and suites and 43 social spaces we have created environments and unique spaces for guests to socialize, interact or be Alone Together,” General Manager Jan Büttgen tells JustLuxe. “Our recent partnership with Preferred Hotels & Resorts is a great asset to us and we are thrilled to have its support with our vision of The South Beach to become an experiential luxury and lifestyle destination that is focused on Creating Infinite Experiences for our guests.”
Opening within the property will also be three bars, an all-day restaurant, two sky gardens with infinity pools, 19 meeting rooms and a spacious ballroom. As Singapore is known for being a hub for business travelers, the hotel built an aero-bridge to link itself to the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre to cater to its executive clientele.
Guestrooms and suites will include a complimentary min-bar (non-alcoholic beverages), plenty of USB charging sockets, high-speed Wi-Fi and Internet access, a rain shower plus deep-soaking tub, designer bath amenities and an electronic bidet toilet. One of the really unique features of the hotel however, will be its Dedicated Ladies’ Floor. Designed for females only, the level will be specially tailored to suite women’s needs and will include female butler services.
As of publication, there is no exact opening date or additional images, but the property hopes to welcome guests within the year.
