Have any plans over Valentine's and President’s Day Weekend? It might be time to grab a few friends and head to the third annual Master and Makers @ Meritage in Napa. From February 12 to 14, The Meritage Resort and Spa will host a three-day event that showcases some of the best Napa Valley and Sonoma County wines and local farm-fresh cuisine. The weekend will include wine tastings, education seminars, dinners and brunches that will highlight the unique flavors the area has to offer.
Friday evening will kick off the weekend with The Masters and The Makers tasting which allows attendees to try a selection of local wines before dinner and learn about tasting from winemakers, master sommeliers, and winery proprietors from Hall Wines and Trinitas Cellars Wines. At 7 p.m. Hall Wines will host the Winemaker Dinner in the hotel's Estate Cave where Meritage’s Executive Chef Ryan Rupp will prepare a multi-course dining and tasting menu.
On Saturday, learn about unlikely food and wine pairings with Trinitas Cellars. If you prefer to be in the kitchen, sign up for a cooking class with Skywalker Vineyards where you can create your own lunch using some of their favorite wines. Try your hand at a blind taste test or take a class to learn about the differences in the shape of the glass and how it can improve the flavor, texture, bouquet and finish of each wine. That evening the Grand Tasting will showcase over 40 wineries in the region along with a few beers from local breweries. Listen to live music as you sip and snack on pairings of cured meats, cheeses, seafood and desserts. A portion of the proceeds from the Grand Tasting will benefit the local charity Community Resources for Children.
Start Sunday off with a Valentine’s Day-themed brunch where sparkling wine makers have their time to shine, and finish off the weekend with a romantic wine and chocolate experience. Taste a rich selection of Meritage Wines’ blended varietals paired with some of the best chocolate in Northern California sourced from regional candy shops.
Each class, tasting and meal is individually priced from $40 to $175 per person, but a three-day, all-access pass may be purchased for $549 which includes entry into most events.
