A 50-minute drive from San Diego and just 15 miles east of the Oceanside pier in San Diego, The Havens is tucked away in the rolling hills of Bonsall. Created by owners John and Terri Havens (minority owners of the Houston Astros) and in partnership with Bonsall Oaks, LLC and Corman Leigh Companies, The Havens will be a new resort-style community bringing a taste of France to Bonsall. Providing access to world-class amenities across the road at The Havens Country Club, one can also enjoy the onsite Chateau Cal-a-Vie, a newly acclaimed French-inspired winery.
Spread across 240 acres, the community is made up of 164 modern European-style, all-electric homes and will offer four distinctive gated residential collections. Each named after a wine region in France (Provence, Alsace, Bordeaux, and De La Tour), the homesites will be between 5,000-8,000 sq. ft., with seven of the residences being reserved for exclusive custom homesites.
The first of the four neighborhoods Provence is under construction and will feature spacious single-level and two-story detached homes ranging from approximately 1,942-2,842 sq. ft. Homeowners will be able to choose between three floor plans in Provence, each plan features modern, well-appointed kitchens, abundance of space to relax and entertain in style as well as a two-car garage. Many also offer panoramic views that can be enjoyed from expansive outdoor decks and backyards. Each garage comes with a third bay for a NEV (golf cart) with a charging station. The final completion of all phases is 2025, with prices starting in the low $1 million range.
Along with renovations to the esteemed Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, The Havens Country Club also recently underwent a $15 million renovation. Known for their affinity toward French Provincial design and architecture, Terri and John Havens have incorporated stunning elements into the recreation of the country club. This includes the 18thCentury estate gates, antique entry doors and many other classic pieces brought over from castles in the South of France.
The three-story 40,000 sq. ft. country club includes an award-winning, private 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, spa, dining room and bar and an upcoming aquatic center. Scheduled to open soon, the aquatic center will feature a clubhouse, restaurant, kitchen, indoor and outdoor lounge, fitness center, Jacuzzi and regulation sized pool.
As their first foray into the California real estate industry, the Havens wanted to extend their vision of wellness and purpose to the community. Dubbed “The Havens Life,” each detail - from design to programming, cooking classes, community trails and more - The Havens has been designed around healthy living, well-being and purpose. Community members will also have access to the upcoming Chateau Cal-a-Vie, the onsite winery and seven-room inn, which will include a tasting room, event and barrel rooms and can also be booked for private dining. The community will also have a total of five miles of interweaving walking trails giving guests a sense of connectivity and belonging.
