The newly renovated beachfront hotel The Wayfarer San Diego is located steps from the surf and Pacific Beach sand. Now the 126 coastal-inspired guest rooms and suites blend the sights from outside into the rooms. Custom art hangs on the walls in both the guest rooms and common areas.
Guests staying in room 231 will enjoy the unobstructed ocean and pool views. Besides a comfortable king size bed, there is a sliding door leading out to a balcony with two chairs and a table. It's an ideal spot to check on the waves while sipping coffee in the morning.
In the evenings guests lounge and stargaze on their patio or balcony overlooking outdoor party lights illuminating the custom murals on the pool deck. Flickering firepits lure guests to stay awake a little longer to listen to the nearby waves touch the sandy beach.
Some of the guest rooms offer more space for families and groups. Oceanfront suites have a separate living room area, plus a king size bed and bunk bed.
Besides a 65' flat screen television, most rooms also have a microwave and mini refrigerator. A few ground floor suites have a private covered cabana with lounge chairs for additional living space to hang out near the pool and whirlpool.
The new Zephyr Cafe is an extension of the lobby. It's open for quick grab and go items, Cutwater canned cocktails, pastries and snacks. In the morning it's a convenient spot to grab a cup of Bird Rock Coffee with a croissant or muffin, before hitting the waves or taking a walk to Crystal Pier.
The cafe pays homage to the Z-Boys, who revolutionized the skateboarding scene in the area in the 1970s. Like a dancing zephyr they brought an electrifying energy to their every move.
For heartier breakfast fare, down the street is the popular Breakfast Republic. Embracing the spirit of the community, the restaurant boasts quirky and fun brunch-inspired decor. There are egg shaped salt and pepper shakers, and a runny egg featured outside on the building.
Brunch enthusiasts enjoy the whimsical American classic menu with a twist. Besides Oreo pancakes, they make pineapple upside-down pancakes, tres leches vegan pancakes, and S'mores French toast. Heartier items include the Jurassic pork Benedict, breakfast jambalaya, shrimp and grits, and avocado toast.
Besides fresh brewed coffee, the bar inside pours Bloody Mary's, local craft beer, mimosas and organic kombucha on draft.
Guests eager to learn how to surf can sign up for a lesson with the hotel’s partnership with Pacific Surf School. The table and shade tent to get started is directly across from the hotel on the sand.
The Wayfarer San Diego has a few cruiser bikes to rent by the hour or half day. Guests can pedal on designated bike paths along the boardwalk to Mission Bay, or to Crystal Pier and beyond towards La Jolla.
The Wayfarer San Diego offers special prices for guests who book early. They also offer special rates for government and military travelers, and those looking for a midweek getaway. Guests who stay three nights or more will receive a room discount too.
