Now that the New Year is almost upon us, it's time to start planning what you're going to do in 2016 and the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance should be on your list. Returning for its 12th year on April 8-10, the automobile event will be bringing in some of the world's top designs for a weekend full of food, shopping, cocktail parties and of course, cars.
Starting the weekend will be the Rolls-Royce Motor Car Contemporary Classic Cocktail Party. On the way into the VIP affair, guests will pass by a lineup of Royce models that represent how far the marque has come. The party will feature entertainment, gourmet bites, drinks, car and art. The following day brings the Tour d'Elegance, which costs $150 a person and will be kicking off at Chuck Spielman's Only Yesterday Museum, where attendees can check out rare collectibles and military artifacts. The Tour d'Elegance will include some of San Diego's most scenic highways and driving routes, including a behind-the-scenes tour of the USS Midway, and culminate in a drive across the Coronado Bridge. Once in Coronado, you will get to check out the Naval Amphibious Base, home to the Navy SEALS, and chat about your cars with service members and their families. There will also be a lunch reception and awards ceremony with emcee and special guest Keith Martin, Sports Car Market publisher.
Saturday night stars the Aston Martin VIP reception on the bluffs of La Jolla Cove at the Ellen Browning Scripps Park. The red carpet event will be full of stunning Aston Martins, gourmet cuisine and of course, live entertainment. It costs $195, which includes a driver and one guest.
