The Rittenhouse in Philadelphia has plenty for you to do during the holidays, especially if you like sweets and spa treatments—who doesn’t? Paying tribute to two famous landmarks, the luxury hotel's culinary team (under the direction of Pastry Chef Tova du Plessis) has created gingerbread replicas of Betsy Ross's house and the Philadelphia Art Museum, which can be found near the entrance of The Library Bar. Though you can't actually eat the handmade homes, there will be some special winter treats available in the lobby, like roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, and spiced apple cider.
If a special holiday meal is what you're after, make a reservation at Lacroix. The Rittenhouse's restaurant will be open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, offering a four- and eight-course dinner menu—there will also be a special Christmas Day Brunch starting at 11 a.m.
Your inner child (okay, and your actual child) will love Teddy Bear Tea, which invites guests and locals to stop by with their favorite teddy for tea service. Featuring petit fours, cookies, and cider (sparkling wine for the adults), the event is held in the Mary Cassatt Tea Room and includes the opportunity to decorate gingerbread men with the pastry team. Held on weekends and certain weekdays, Teddy Bear Tea costs $60 per adult and $30 per child.
