Photography and the spirit of Parisian living combine inside Hotel Atmospheres, the first hotel-gallery in Paris. Renowned photographer Thierry des Ouches was invited to capture Paris in a way that would express his personal vision of the city, and the result was 112 unpublished photographs that are displayed throughout the hotel. Hotel Atmospheres’ bright colors and modern lines give the impression of being part boutique design hotel and part contemporary photo gallery. Architect Vincent Bastie worked with the photographer to create a place that would “weave a story.”
The plot of this story? Well, the setting is easy—modern day Paris. The protoganist? Bastie took inspiration from des Ouches prints and designed a place where every traveler could feel "like a hero" while living against the backdrop of a brightly painted, urban locale. With the characters and locale set, the plot is up for grabs. Inside the hotel, vivid colors are paired with exposed brick, while modern amenities flirt with natural elements. Hotel Atmospheres has 56 rooms, which include six suites and two apartment-style rooms. Each one was designed around six “atmospheres” or themes: nature, monument, by night, urban macaron, and palace. Color palettes range from the muted elegance of a summer night in the city to the pretty pastels of a tea room.
The hotel is located within walking distance of some of the city’s most popular tourist attractions including the Louvre, the Pantheon, the Musee d’Orsay and the Notre-Dame cathedral. In addition, the area is full of jazz clubs, antique shops, restaurants, and cafes. For those wishing to stay closer to the hotel, or for those needing a little R&R, Hotel Atmosphere has a gym, sauna, and massage bed.
