Colony Palms Hotel

Originally dubbed The Colonial House by reputed mobster owner Al Wertheimer, the Spanish Colonial style hotel began receiving guests in 1936 featuring plenty of sunshine, a good night's rest, as well as a legendary underground speakeasy and brothel. The hotel was renamed The Howard Manor in the late 1940's when Robert and Andrea Leeds Howard (owners of the champion thoroughbred Sea Biscuit) took possession. For the next 25 years the hotel was a haven for young Hollywood in Palms Springs.

Located throughout the property, our Deluxe Guest Rooms are also beautifully appointed yet larger and more prominently situated than our Superior Rooms, and in certain cases enjoy additional amenities such as a four-claw bathtub or fireplace. Discreetly tucked away in the garden section of the property, our Casitas offer similar refinements as all of our Guest Rooms as well as the added privacy and luxury of a large private patio that includes an amply sized two-person hot tub, oversized outdoor lounge bed, and umbrella.

At the Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar indulge in Executive Chef James Corwell culinary magic. He began his culinary career over two decades ago after completing an AFC Apprenticeship with Certified Master Chef Mark Erickson. Since that time, Corwell has become one of 61 Master Chef's in the world.
