The Knickerbocker has just opened two of three new dining venues in partnership with master chef Charlie Palmer. Charlie Palmer at The Knick, is the hotel’s newest signature restaurant and bar, Jake’s at The Knick is the ground level espresso bar, and St. Cloud will be the rooftop bar and terrace, offering unsurpassable views of the city’s skyline later this spring. “Developing the three restaurants, and the many integrated food and beverage components at The Knickerbocker, has been a true passion project for me for the last several years,” said Chef Charlie Palmer. “The landmark hotel, Times Square location, and historic significance have been inspiring for me as our team has worked for the past 16 months to create unique eating and drinking experiences throughout the property.”
On the ground floor, operating as a second entry to the hotel, Jake’s at The Knick was named after John Jacob “Jakey” Astor VI, the son of John Jacob Astor IV, who originally opened the property over 100 years ago. Here guests will find coffee, espressos and specialty beverages served exclusively from the Brooklyn Roasting Company. Small dishes and baked goods will be available for purchase, and artisanal breads will be provided by Sullivan Street Bakery.
Four floors up, Charlie Palmer at The Knick offers a glamorous retreat for diners and features chainmail drapes, marble bar top and finishes, romantic lighting, and an open kitchen. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant specializes in seasonal and locally-sourced American cuisine, plating up menu items like Scotch quail eggs with popcorn shoots, Dijon, and pancetta aioli; grilled romaine hearts with garlic breadcrumbs, shaved pecorino, and honey-lemon emulsion; and The Knick Burger. Guests will also be treated to The Knick Test Kitchen, a daily menu featuring new, experimental flavors from the hotel's Executive Chef Cliff Denny.
In spring, the rooftop bar St. Cloud will open. Expected to encompass the very best of what the property has to offer, the 7,500-square-foot space will serve small dishes, but will primarily focus on cocktails and spirits. The bar will include a signature cigar lounge curated by celebrated tobacconist Nat Sherman and the Waterford Crystal Lounge, a luxury indoor space that features furniture from British designer Jo Sampson and uses Waterford bar and stemware. “Each of The Knickerbocker dining venues has been designed to provide a distinct culinary experience,” added Chef Cliff Denny. “While exemplifying ‘made in New York,’ The Knickerbocker’s food and beverage program is guided by Charlie Palmer’s passion for market-driven ingredients and vibrant, unexpected flavors, creating unrivaled dining options at the crossroads of the world.”
