After a $15 million project led by San Francisco designer Tamara Sypult of Interior Design Workshop, The Omni Royal Orleans is ready to show off its fresh new look. Inspired by the city’s history and spirit, the Omni’s improved guestrooms, color schemes and interior spaces pay homage to the lively New Orleans culture. Dressed in blue, gold, chocolate brown and rust, the hotel gives off a vibrant and cheerful personality. To highlight the city, the walls feature artwork and photography based on Louisiana imagery from the city’s local artists.
Guestrooms and suites have been updated with custom-designed furniture and modern amenities as well as the addition of 24 balconies. As a signature feature, the now 49 balconies represent the old Colonial Spanish and French architectural styles of New Orleans. Intricate designs on the custom carpeting mimic the ornamental lace ironwork of the city’s balconies, which pairs nicely with the super-fine drapery fabric of the same design.
Upon entering the hotel, visitors will notice the main entrance and staircase still possess their regal grandeur, but have been refreshed with larger light fixtures and warm color tones. Custom furniture and fixtures were also brought in from the New Orleans antique district. The hotel also called upon Tai Ping of Axminster to utilize historical fabrics for carpeting in the public spaces.
For the past 31 years, The Omni Royal Orleans has received the esteemed four-diamond luxury award and its Zagat-rated Rib Room Restaurant has been frequented by famous politicians and literary greats for over 50 years. The 345-room property also features a rooftop outdoor heated pool, rooftop fitness center, observation deck, and on-site barbershop. Its prime location also affords its guests the luxury of being in the New Orleans’ most fashionable corner, St. Louis at Royal.
To complement their renovation, the Omni is offering a Balconies, Boat Cruises & Beignets package that is valid until August 28, 2013. The package includes accommodations in a newly renovated balcony room, a boat cruise along the Mississippi and a welcome snack. Rates are based on double occupancy and start at $195 per night.
