Milan’s culinary scene is taking it up a notch, blending the city’s love for both high-end fashion and food. The result? Designer label food. Sounds a bit messy, pairing pizza with pashminas and braised beef with Italian leather, but that’s exactly what the food scene in Milan seems to be moving towards. At Agua and Food, shoppers can browse for luxury clothes while looking above to select a dried salami for supper. At the Armani Hotel, diners can enjoy views of the Duomo or sit at the chef’s table while some of the city’s most talented culinary masters serve your meal.
In many of Milan’s restaurants, art and fashion have become as much a part of the restaurant as the food itself. Designer Roberto Cavalli’s restaurant is one of the hottest spots to find celebrities during Milan Fashion Week, with an interior fit with animal prints and bronze hues that could be found on any Twiggy look-alike strutting her stuff on the catwalk. The trend is catching fast, with many of the fashion world’s top brands joining forces with Milan’s rich culinary traditions.
