There is nothing quite like al fresco dining served up with an oceanfront view and it’s even better when it provides a memorable experience.
Offering spectacular views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Oceans 234 is one of the few south Florida restaurants that sits directly along the sands of Deerfield Beach. The seaside spot has been a staple for the local community here for more than two decades and for good reason.
While they are well known for seafood classics like lobster mac and cheese and Baja fish tacos, the elevated menu features a nice selection of sushi and raw bar selections as well as some creative specialties.
Request a seat on their lively open-air outdoor patio that is just steps from the beach. The pet friendly dining area offers a laid-back, beachy vibe while soaking in the salt air.
Start off with one of their signature cocktails like a Tequila Old Fashioned, Mango on Fire or Oceans Colada and pair it up with a sampling from their raw bar.
Fresh oysters on the half shell were Hammerhead Oysters from Massachusetts the day we visited.
Our server told us the day’s catch featured local swordfish, mahi, and red snapper that can be prepared to your liking.
Other traditional fresh offerings include jumbo shrimp cocktail and Maine lobster tails, along with some unique finds, including Yuzu salmon tiradito, fresh catch ceviche, and a lobster “sushi” roll.
The Members Only roll was filled with a delicious combination of spicy tuna, salmon, jalapeno, avocado, and cucumber accompanied by wasabi peas for extra crunch topped with yuzu-truffle aioli.
Two Baja fish tacos (served grilled, fried or blackened) are ideal for sharing featuring locally caught mahi combined with a delicious chipotle cream, red pickled onion, citrus slaw and micro cilantro.
For main events, the jerk swordfish was the declared winner of the table served top Aji Amarillo corn cream with a warm maduro salad, baby kale, spiced pepitas, and mint mojo for extra flavor.
The tasty Thai pesto blackened mahi was accompanied by shrimp, Basmati rice, sautéed spinach, and red coconut curry.
Other popular dishes include seafood fra diavolo, spinach artichoke gnocchi, herb-crusted rack of lamb, and Mediterranean roasted chicken with Kalamata olives and feta.
For a sweet ending to a memorable dinner, try a slice of Key lime pie or their decadent homemade bread pudding topped with rum crème anglaise and whipped cream.
Oceans 234 is located at 234 North Ocean Boulevard in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
