Starting on July 18, South Beach in Miami, FL. was overrun with fashion designers, lavish parties and swimwear presentations from Mercedes-Benz’ ninth Fashion Week Swim. Hosted at the Raleigh Hotel, participants were introduced to five days of designer runway shows highlighting the latest collection of suits with a kick-off event celebrating 25 years of ROXY with ROXY Pop Surf. Spinning the beats for the ROXY party was DJ Chelsea Leyland whose clients have included Chanel, Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and has opened for Santigold, Niki Minaj and Duran Duran.
Among the many designers present were: Agua Bendita, Wildfox Swim, Beach Bunny, ViX Swimwear, BCBG Max Azria Group, Luli Fama, Zingara Swimwear and Minimale. Probably one of the most anticipated shows of the week, Mara Hoffman’s collection showcased with India-inspired elements. The effortless looks were filled with cartoon snakes, elephants and intricate hair adornments. Adding some color to the official Swim Week car, Hoffman also decorated the Benz in a never-before-seen print.
Marking their first year streaming live, buyers, editors and viewers could view the event live or pre-order the show straight from the runway courtesy of Everything But Water's website. This addition enabled buyers to gauge consumer reaction to the new styles before the finalization of the season’s orders.
Mercedes-Benz DHL, American Express®, TRESemmé, Smashbox Cosmetics, Ipanema, The Raleigh, Ocean Drive Magazine and Getty Images were title sponsors of the event.
