The name Ian Schrager has been practically synonymous with both the city of Miami as well as the hotel industry for years. The high profile real estate developer’s chic and innovative designs include some of South Beach’s most iconic hotels such as the highly-favored Delano. It is no surprise that Schrager has managed to complete yet another impressive and aesthetically pristine project in Miami Beach. After 17 years, Schrager returned to Miami to develop a series of 26 luxury residences atop an existing 1950s property, slated to become the Miami Beach EDITION hotel. Schrager partnered with internationally acclaimed chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten to head up the hotel’s restaurant concept.
Vongerichten and Schrager recently hosted an intimate sunset cocktail party at the newly opened sales pavilion of The Miami Beach EDITION residences. The elite crowd included New York and Miami's top real estate brokers along with other society, media and culinary notables in town for the SoBe Wine and Food Festival. Samples of Vongerichten’s cuisine filled the room with an alluring aroma while champagne flowed freely. Guests listened as Schrager explained the details surrounding the design concept, lifestyle and unique entertainment planned for The Miami Beach EDITION. Models of the properties were also on hand.
As the evening continued Schrager revealed that nearly half of the residences are currently under contract. With sales having just officially launched in January, Schrager was pleased with the early strength of the numbers, indicating Miami’s healthy market for exceptional properties. The residences were designed by world-renowned architect John Pawson, who partnered with Schrager during the process. Each residence is specially designed to create continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. The homes feature expansive outdoor rooms with hanging gardens, private pools, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and pergolas in addition to offering panoramic views of both the ocean and the bay.
Pawson utilized only the highest quality finishes, creating interiors that are as functional as they are comfortable. Each room provides the essence of modern living by incorporating intricate details such as translucent Italian white onyx screens, bleached teak wood flooring and custom-made bathtubs and sinks. The exclusivity, privacy and individuality of the custom homes are just a few of the ownership benefits. Buyers will also enjoy privileged access to all the services and amenities of a world-class hotel. Pricing is $3,000 per square foot, placing the homes in the top bracket of Miami Beach condos, according to The Miami Herald. The residences are set to open in early 2014.
