In August, Madrid’s first five-star boutique hotel, URSO Hotel & Spa, opened in a palatial 19th-century building from the team behind Cap Rocat in Mallorca. The 78-room property retains a neo-classical style and sits between Chamberi, the Chueca district and the Tribunal area.
Inside, vintage meets modern with sleek interiors created by designer Antonio Obrador who utilized honey-toned woods, oak paneling, fine fabrics and marble floors to complete its décor. Local craftsmen restored forged iron and artisan carpenters restored the early 20th century elevator. Offering a true sense of place, the hotel is layered with Spanish touches and aesthetics including staff uniforms which were created by a local designer to reflect early 20th century Spanish style.
Of the guestrooms, 15 are Junior Suites and two additional suites include private terraces. All rooms come with Wi-Fi access, air conditioning and heating, flat screen TV, a mini bar, safe, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers. There are no restaurants on-site, however, a pop-up eatery called The Table will house six different up-and-coming restaurateurs at the property who will take over their stoves for a few weeks. Additionally, the hotel is home to a lounge bar, business center, event and meeting space, URSO Spa, an indoor plunge pool, fitness center and a salon.
Guestrooms start at around USD $250 a night during the weekdays and USD $430 for suites.
