Housed on the corner of Colorado Avenue and Brand Boulevard and anchoring one end of The Americana mall, Chef Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak is airy and open with a modern dark wood interior, long spacious bar section, round tan leather booths, and an indoor/outdoor patio.
This year, Bourbon Steak celebrates its 10th anniversary. Earlier this year, on August 15th, the restaurant hosted a special dinner to celebrate their decade of becoming one of the best steakhouses in Los Angeles.
Bourbon Steak is Mina’s 18th restaurant, and the menu includes Mina staples such as the lobster pot pie, grass-fed steaks, and duck fat fries with three sauces, but also offers unique dishes including duck spring rolls, and Ahi tartare with Asian pear and pine nuts.. They also offer a traditional Petrosian Caviar service as well as tableside presentations of the famous lobster pot pie, Japanese whiskey, and bourbon flights.
New on the fall menu is the hearty lobster mezzaluna with Calabrian chili, colatura, braised fennel and bread crumb. For appetizers, the modern take on the wedge salad with easy to eat smaller lettuce bowls filled with blue cheese, bacon, egg, tomato, red onion and buttermilk ranch dressing was outstanding and a great starter to any meal. The lamb kebobs with creamy yogurt sauce were also delicious.
We enjoyed a huge 16 ounce bone-in Cowboy ribeye and Mina’s special half-roasted Mary’s chicken with spring vegetables, carrot puree and chicken jus.
For dessert, we splurged with the 24K Molten Chocolate Cake Sundae with Luxardo cherries, vanilla bean ice cream and Valrhona chocolate, the Bourbon Steak Candy Bar with a dark chocolate brownie, peanut butter ganache and peanuts and the Brulee Basque Cheesecake with fresh and roasted strawberries.
The food is always outstanding at Bourbon Steak. Also outstanding is the service each time I visit. The atmosphere is comfortable while still being elegant and the staff always greets us like family. This is why I consider Bourbon Steak the best steakhouse in the LA area.
