A residential building in London is claiming to contain the most-expensive student accommodations in the city, according to Business Insider. Marketing their block of flats to wealthy families with international students, Fountain House is offering six newly-refurbished two- and three-bedroom apartments ranging in price from around USD $163K a year to a cool USD $382K a year. Talk about parents of the year!
Originally built in 1938 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (designer of Britain's iconic red telephone box), the flats range in size from 1,600 square feet to 2,100 and come with a 24-hour concierge, walk-in closets, stone bathrooms, free-standing bathtubs and 24-hour porter service. As an added perk for parents, the apartments are located less than a five-minute’s walk from the US Embassy.
While the five two-bedrooms remain vacant, the three-bedroom is reported to have been rented out to a 19-year-old for around USD $31,827 a month. Students, you’re probably going to want to be her friend. The residence is spread out over three floors, and includes a breakfast bar, large kitchen, Miele oven, a glass staircase and views of Hyde Park.
Real estate agent Peter Wetherell is marketing the development, and is seeing 80 percent of his inquiries coming in from overseas, mainly from Africa, Asia, the US and the Middle East. According to The Guardian, “A recent report found there were 67,500 international students attending London universities, and that they spend £1.36bn a year on living expenses.”
Wetherell expects all flats to be rented out prior the new academic year from those studying at Westminster University, the London College of Fashion and the London School of Economics. So if you’re in the market for a safe and exquisite residence for your young adult, you better act quick.
