A former chef at the renowned Ivy restaurant has launched his first solo venture. Ed Shaerf officially opened One Blenheim Terrace which is situated in St. John’s Wood last week.
Inspired by a love of cooking, Shaerf’s restaurant perfectly executes exciting dishes which are not only a gastronomic delight, but are also visually stunning. "We are revitalizing the food of yesteryear by stripping back classic favorites, staples on British menus, in an imaginative way, which are then presented with style, cheek and chic," Ed says.
"We are serious about food, but it is still fun and flirty with a hint of razzle dazzle. Quality is at the heart of everything we do at One Blenheim Terrace. From sourcing the very best ingredients to offering what we think is an excellent range of British beers."
"We also work very closely with our suppliers to offer a varied, yet reasonably priced, wine list that compliments the flavors to perfection. "The quality of our dishes is paramount and we certainly put the hours in, sometimes 18 per day, to make sure our guests leave One Blenheim Terrace with smiles on their faces!"
David Moore, an industry expert who owns Pied à Terre and L’Autre Pied, and one of the Inspectors on the BBC2’s series The Restaurant, is a consultant in Shaerf’s first venture. Moore said: "His cuisine is creative, drawing on classic favorites and breathing new life into them with his own spin."
Examples of Shaerf’s creativity include One Blenheim Terrace’s duck à l’orange which is a delicious variation on the original with roast mallard accompanied by confit leg and a blood orange sauce (£19.50). The stupendous cucumber sandwich dessert (£5.95) sees a cucumber and ginger sorbet between a cucumber mille-feuille with roasted apple drizzled with orange syrup accompanied by a gin and tonic jelly.
The light and airy restaurant with 48 covers is brightly furnished making it an ideal setting for diners. An additional terrace area provides space for up to 20 people to enjoy alfresco dining. One Blenheim Terrace is open for lunch Wed–Sun 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and dinner Tues-Sat 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and opens for Sunday Brunch from October 2.
