Private Clubs in London: With arguably the best views of the city, The Yacht London is stepping up the pace when it comes to private members’ clubs. Situated on the River Thames, diners and drinkers have breathtaking panorama incorporating the Millennium Bridge, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. It’s based on what’s known as the ‘Mayfair of the river’, where the City meets the West End.
Built in 1927, the permanently moored luxury steam yacht has been carefully restored in close consultation with English Heritage and PLA Archivists to bring it back to its former glory, retaining many original features of the Art Deco era with a twist of contemporary design.
The Yacht is run by Prince Nicholas Khan- Roper, who is the managing director and has worked in the city, owning his own company since he was 26. He is engaged to Rania Harv whose family is connected to Saudi Arabia. His aim is to provide a networking platform promoting prosperity through partnership, with high-profile guests including the Queen and other heads of states.
Once onboard, guests can dine in the restaurant and enjoy a range of fresh, contemporary dishes or sip classic cocktails in the Art Deco Cocktail Lounge, which is light and airy and is perfect to hold a canapé reception.
Dine in style in The Restaurant where head chef James Sheridan, who has previously worked under several Michelin Star chefs, will serve a variety of contemporary dishes; there’s an extensive wine list from which to choose.
Relax on the large Chesterfield sofas in The Stateroom – perfect for chilling out and escaping the hustle and bustle of the City. The Top Deck is ideal for a more casual event and al fresco entertaining – plus with a marquee, it can be used year-round.
There are three membership ranges. There are just 100 Governor memberships available – allowing the member exclusive use of the Yacht for one night for up to 100 guests including a 12-course buffet, house spirits, wines and beverages. Then there’s the Executive Package, which is perfect for politicians, ambassadors and entrepreneurs. The Club Membership also offers beneficial perks.
The Yacht London also has some key dates still available for Christmas parties as well as corporate events. Ranging from canapé and drink receptions in The Stateroom and Cocktail Lounge, to set menus starting at £25 per head in the Restaurant and Top Deck Terrace and Champagne Bar. Or, for New Year’s Eve, watch the London fireworks in outstanding style, while dining on an impressive tasting menu and sipping fine wines.
The Yacht London promises something special for early 2011 - the epitome of business mixed with pleasure. Stay tuned to learn what's in store.
